Japanese snacks & candy — new drops for December だがし
Our story

The little shelf with the big sweet tooth

Dagashi District is the Japanese-snack corner of Mandarin Gifts, a family retail business in Kalamazoo, Michigan, that has been behind the counter since 2012. "Dagashi" are Japan's everyday candies — the small, cheerful, pocket-money treats sold in neighborhood snack shops for generations. We fell for that shelf years ago; the District is our way of standing it up in Michigan.

Stocked, not dropshipped blind

We buy through Faire from US wholesalers we know by name — Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop, Cow Crack Wholesale and Global Bite Co lead a sourcing list of 21 suppliers, with 53 real orders between us and the big three.

Curated like a snack shop

Fifty-six picks, not five thousand listings. If it's on the shelf — Kasugai gummies, Demon Slayer mochi, matcha Kit Kat, ramune — it's there because someone at the counter would hand it to a friend.

Rooted in Kalamazoo

The District ships from Michigan and answers to a Michigan family store. December drops, restocks and new-supplier finds land here first — shipping is calculated at checkout, plainly, at the Shopify store.

From a mall counter to a whole district

Mandarin Gifts has served Michigan shoppers since 2012. Anime and Japanese pop culture were always part of the family business; Dagashi District gives the snack side of that world its own storefront — with its sister shop, Anime District MI, covering the merch side of the fandom.
